Today we will begin work for Juneteenth. The third Friday in June is a State and public holiday commemorating Juneteenth, the day on which the last enslaved people in America learned of their freedom. This year it will be honored and celebrated on Friday, June 18, 2021. As part of Jersey City Public Schools' first official commemoration of Juneteenth, the District will mark the holiday with asynchronous instruction and a remote day for students and staff. The asynchronous remote day will allow everyone to participate in celebrations around the City.
